Scottish Disability Golf Partnership

The SDGP is governed and operated by disabled people and was the first golfing organisation in the world, to incorporate anyone of any age, with a physical, sensory or intellectual disability, that interferes with the playing or learning about the game of golf. We also actively involve and provide golf training for the carers, guides, coaches and supporters of our disabled participants. The SDGP hosts golf events across most of Scotland, reaching from the Highland’s to the Scottish Borders and down into England. We have a small number of event organisers and are enormously proud of the quality and quantity of volunteers and members who play a major part in the running of the charity.

Demand

DEMAND is a national charity that has been designing and making specialist equipment for the disabled for over 30 years. It has recently expanded it’s service to include service and repair of existing equipment and refurbishment of donated equipment for resale to second users at a vastly reduced cost to make it more accessible. DEMAND exists to conduct and encourage the design and manufacture of equipment that both improves the quality of life and provides the opportunities for current and future generations of disabled individuals.

The Society of One Armed Golfers

The Society of One Armed Golfers was set up in 1932 to mainly cater for the needs of service personnel who had lost a limb. Since then it has evolved to include stroke victims, birth defects and accident victims. We have a criteria that only one arm can be used to play every golf shot. We now have a current membership of 150 from 14 countries. A Championship is held annually in rotation in England, Scotland and Ireland. Annually meetings are also held in each of the regions. For more information contact Jerry Woodley at jedro1@sky.com or click on the logo to the right to visit the website.
